I'll be teaching creative writing at the College of Alameda, on Wednesdays, beginning in January. This survey course in the practice of creative writing is open to the community and intended for students of all levels of experience and of all ages. It may be taken for transferable credit to both the UC and CSU systems.
The class will be intensive and companionable, with strong, individualized support for each participant as well as the cultivation and resonance of a community of peers. We will write (and read) across genres including but not limited to poetry, song, memoir, fiction, nonfiction, drama, and journalism.
What I am most interested in is in supporting you in the further development of your own idiosyncratic writing practice and vision. The class is intended to be sustaining. All readings and exercises are optional and may be tailored to suit individual needs.

Elizabeth Treadwell has taught creative writing at Berkeley City College and directed Small Press Traffic Literary Arts Center at the California College of the Arts. She now directs Lark Books & Writing Studio and curates Lark Readings at Studio Grand. Her most recent book is Virginia or the mud-flap girl and new poems appear in Puerto del Sol, Stolen Island, and The American Poetry Review.
