Up in the mountains the summer before last, I had a vivid dream to create something like this, which Sophie Mayer posted to facebook earlier today.

After that dream, I'd specifically envisioned a center to support young artists, ages 15-25, in creating sustainable adult lives which will allow them to fully develop---a version of which I'm now doing on a much smaller scale with Lark Books & Writing Studio, a scale that fits my life now with two young kids.

It is so great to see this larger scale manifesting in the world via Arts Emergency. We need all our artists, and young people need to be truly respected and valued.

[The first photo shows a rainbow postcard from Sophie, in the Lark Studio amid the glamour forest we made in Fashionista class last month. The second is of some of my favorite young artists, my daughters & 3 of my nieces -- Ivy, Anneli, Violet, Gemma, & Sonja, & multiple Madelines, just because.]

PS My Aunt Jean also inspires me.
