"A Posy for Epiphany" from Posy: a charm almanack & atlas -- & a review.
More news of new & forthcoming Larklings soon! Including Ginger Ko, Susana Gardner, erica lewis, & Raquel Salas-Rivera. xo & happy NY. I am so happy and excited to announce that Lark will publish erica lewis' all of the real tears & Ginger Ko's Comorbid in February and April, respectively. These are the bold and herald works of gorgeous luminaries and luminescence. More news soon. And love.
It is not without some sense of loss that I make this announcement, but it is also with an energetic anticipation.
The Manifesting the Female Epic anthology I originally conceived of and began coediting in conversation with Sarah Anne Cox--and had planned to publish as my press's, Lark's, first anthology--will not appear, as our partnership has dissolved in simultaneity with my thinking shifting. Instead I have begun working from the variety of impulses which animate my writing and tending now toward #gorgonpoetics (third issue is up today) alongside seeking single author manuscripts for Lark's 2016 list (exciting news soon). I will be writing to all of you whose work was previously accepted for MFE shortly, and please know that we are very grateful for your works and being despite this change of plan. Love to all, Elizabeth Treadwell This class is online and is intended to sustain and expand your writing practice. It is amazing how much can happen in a month when you commit to a daily practice and open to a community of peers. The class will include daily writing prompts and exercises, suggested readings, and lively discussion and feedback. Further information on the class is here and about the instructor, Elizabeth Treadwell, is here. Cost is $200 and dates are October 15-November 15, 2015. To register, please contact Elizabeth.
Lark Books & Writing Studio and Elizabeth Treadwell as an author will #boycottawp until that organization does much, much, much more to address the structural inequalities in terms of economics, gender, and race which it at present rests upon and reinscribes.*
Lark Books will publish its first three single-author books in September 2015, its first anthology in January 2016, and will be the featured press at the grassroots, independently run (thank you David Kirschenbaum) Boog City Lit Festival in February 2016. We would be very honored to publish more work by more women of color and more work by trans and nonbinary people in our first anthology, Manifesting the Female Epic. This is our list of contributors thus far. This is our original call for work. You may write to us at this email. Lark will have another open reading period for single author works once these first four volumes are launched. *[This is not intended to single out AWP as the only organization that does this, obviously. But AWP is a fulcrum of the problems. I am calling for huge changes, not tiny ones. Also, we can have a bookfair without a corporate or an academic structure.] |
