Works & Lives: de Mille, Hurston, Kahlo, Morgan

11/24/2013

Beginning early next year, we will study and engage with some of the major works of choreographer Agnes de Mille, writer Zora Neale Hurston, artist Frida Kahlo, and architect Julia Morgan, while also considering their ancillary work, self-presentation, and personal stories -- all in historical, cultural, and feminist contexts. This is a class for curious artists.
As ever, our classes provide rich, lively opportunities for understanding and integrating literature, and her cousin history, into our lives. These include creative response in a variety of media as well as research and writing stemming from the topics at hand.

Classes are small, with strong individualized support and resources for each student. All classes incorporate the development of fluency in reading and writing, according to the ages, abilities, and interests of the children. The development of this fluency (and joy!) will happen in a variety of ways depending upon the class. For all course descriptions, go here.
